Do I need to be referred by a professional body to use the Trust’s services?
No. If you are elderly and live locally, you can contact us yourself and we will arrange a time  to discuss your individual needs.

However, if you prefer you can ask the following professionals to refer you:-

  • GP
  • Hospital Consultant
  • Social Worker
  • District Nurse
  • Total Care Team
  • Member of the Clergy

Or a relative or friend who thinks that you might benefit from the services the Trust offers.

What happens when I have been referred?
When you have made contact with the Trust, or somebody has contacted us on your behalf, we will arrange for a member of staff to come and visit you to discuss your individual needs and to let you know what services might best suit you.

After this, a trial visit is usually arranged and you will be allocated a place or places depending on you individual requirements or wishes, without obligation on your part.

Once people start to use the Trust’s services regularly, there may be a chance for you to be offered extra sessions. Although our facilities are used fully and we sometimes have to operate a waiting list – and this is usually the case where our transport is required – the staff of the Trust make every effort to address individual needs as far as possible.

What does it cost?
The Lonsdale Trust heavily subsidises the work it does by fund raising. Therefore, we try to keep our costs as low as possible, so that we offer an affordable service across the community.

How do I pay?
Many of our clients pay us cash on the days they attend, whilst others prefer to give a week’s or a month’s fees by cheque or by standing order.
